His Excellency Dr. Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi President Of The Republic Of Botswana TO Pay a State Visit To The Republic Of Zimbabwe

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform that His Excellency Dr. Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi, President of the Republic of Botswana, will undertake a State Visit to Zimbabwe from 1st to 3rd September 2022. This follows a successful State Visit to Botswana by the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, His Excellency Mr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa in 2018.

Botswana and Zimbabwe enjoy excellent relations characterised by good neighbourliness and mutual respect. They share a common history, culture, and family ties which pre-date the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two in 1983.

During the Visit, the two Presidents will deliberate on issues of mutual interest and explore ways and means of further deepening the relations between the two countries.

Botswana and Zimbabwe signed an agreement establishing the Bi-National Commission (BNC) in 2018, to promote and explore

cooperation in a number of areas such as education, agriculture, defence and security, energy, environment, and health.

While in Zimbabwe, His Excellency the President will officiate at the Annual Zimbabwe

Agricultural Show (ZAS), which will be held on 2nd September 2022. His Excellency the President will be accompanied by the First Lady, Mrs. Neo Jane Masisi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Honourable Dr. Lemogang Kwape, the Minister of Agriculture, Honourable Mr. Fidelis Macdonald Molao and Senior Government Officials.

The President and his delegation are expected to return to Gaborone on 3rd September 2022.
