Government communicators encouraged to reflect

The Acting Permanent Secretary for the Ministry for Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration Ms Goitsemang Morekisi has urged Government Communicators to reflect and do their job to the best of their ability.

Ms Morekisi said this when officially opening Government communicators Annual Performance planning workshop in Francistown this morning.She said Communication is core to everything, therefore this makes communicators some of the most significant officers in Government.

She encouraged communicators to meticulously communicate Government Programmes, initiatives and policies adding that they should communicate in a way that will neutralize negativity and keep the Nation informed.

She also emphasized that government communicators should be trustworthy sources as information today travels faster due to new age technologies.

For his part Deputy Permanent Secretary, Government Communications Mr William Sentshebeng highlighted that information has the power to transform the lives.
He said the purpose of the workshop was to bring all heads of Government Communicators together to strategise on how government public relations can align itself with Government Agenda and to improve service delivery to Batswana through access to factual and timeous information, adding that communication plays an integral role in the socio economic development of any country and its people.
He further encouraged communicators to work hard in creating a positive image for the government.

“I want to encourage you all that our work must create a positive image for us as Government not just in name only,” he said.
