Vacancy Position-Cyber Security Analyst

Position Description
Cyber security analysts are expected to assess and mitigate risks while enhancing system security. They are typically responsible for identifying and securing any network weaknesses, and making such recommendations where such gaps exist. They help prevent attacks through their expertise and knowledge of databases, networks, hardware, firewalls and encryption. They keep computer systems running smoothly, prevent the theft of financial and personal information, and block intruders from accessing and divulging proprietary data within an organization.
Education Requirements
1. At least a Bachelor’s Degree in an IT related field.
2. Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Certification will be an added advantage
Technical Skills
The analyst should possess Strong Analytical skills and should be familiar with various analysis tools.
Should also have Basic Knowledge on the following:
β€’ Network Security Monitoring
β€’ TCP/IP, computer networking, routing and switching
β€’ Windows, UNIX and Linux operating systems
β€’ Network protocols and packet analysis tools
β€’ Computer Hardware and Software Maintenance
β€’ Processes for Managing Network Security
β€’ Ability to Discover Vulnerabilities in Information Systems
β€’ Firewalls, Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems/Protocols
β€’ Familiar with Security Regulations and Standards
β€’ Familiar with SIEM solutions
Soft Skills
The analysts will be expected to be curious and deeply interested in the latest security developments and tools.
The analysts will also be required to possess the following soft skills: Effective communication, Detail Oriented, Creativity and Critical thinking, Self-Motivated, Fast Learner, Observant, Leadership and Teamwork, Ability to work for long hours, Ability to work under pressure and Ability to solve complex problems
Security Analyst Responsibilities
While on duty the analyst is required to:
1. Identify and detect unauthorized access, modification and/or destruction against digital files and information systems
2. Maintain data and monitor security access
3. Perform vulnerability testing, risk analysis and security assessments
4. Anticipate security alerts, incidents and disasters and reduce their likelihood
5. Manage network, intrusion detection and prevention systems
6. Define, implement and maintain corporate security policies
7. Provide analysis and trending of security log data from a large number of heterogeneous security devices.
8. Monitor network security events received from client’s monitored servers, and then take appropriate action based on client’s security policy.
9. Perform analysis of log files. Includes forensic analysis of system resource access.
10. Provide Incident Response (IR) support when analysis confirms actionable incident.
11. Provide threat and vulnerability analysis as well as security advisory services.
12. Analyse and respond to previously undisclosed software and hardware vulnerabilities
13. Investigate, document, and report on information security issues and emerging trends.
14. Integrate and share information with other analysts and other teams.
15. Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
