The Ministry of Health has reaffirmed its commitment to guarantee that all hospitals and clinics across the country are stocked with essential medicines. This announcement came from Minister of Health, Dr. Stephen Modise, following the arrival of a significant consignment of medicines from Cyprus earlier today.
The donated shipment from Cyprus consists of two tonnes of vital pharmaceuticals, including broad-spectrum antibiotics, pediatric cancer treatments, and various painkillers. This delivery is expected to bolster the supply of critical medicines, addressing urgent healthcare needs nationwide.
Dr. Modise emphasized the importance of this consignment in strengthening the country’s healthcare system. “Our priority is to ensure that these life-saving medicines reach every healthcare facility promptly,” he stated. “Healthcare workers have been instructed to expedite the processing and distribution of these drugs to guarantee timely delivery.”
The arrival of these medicines marks a key step in addressing ongoing challenges related to drug shortages, especially in rural and underserved areas. The Ministry’s proactive measures aim to improve patient outcomes by maintaining consistent access to necessary treatments.

This partnership with Cyprus highlights the importance of international cooperation in healthcare and reflects Botswana’s dedication to enhancing medical services for its population.
As the Ministry of Health continues to oversee the distribution process, citizens can expect improved availability of critical medicines, reinforcing the country’s resolve to provide quality healthcare for all.
