Botswana Red Cross Society Strengthens Partnership with Botswana Defence Force

On 9 February 2026, the Secretary General and CEO of the Botswana Red Cross Society (BRCS), Dr. Kutlwano Mukokomani, together with the Head of Programmes (Social Services), Ms. Tshepo Dixon, and Communications Officer, Ms. Sandra Sethaiso, paid a courtesy visit to the Commander of the Botswana Defence Force (BDF), General Mpho Churchill Mophuting. The meeting aimed to reinforce the longstanding partnership between BRCS and the BDF and to explore opportunities for closer strategic alignment. Dr. Mukokomani expressed sincere appreciation for the consistent support the BDF has provided to BRCS over the years. The visit highlighted the importance of collaboration in addressing humanitarian challenges and serving vulnerable communities across Botswana and the region.

During the engagement, General Mophuting acknowledged the critical role of BRCS in humanitarian service delivery. He commended the organisation for its swift response in mobilising assistance to communities affected by the recent floods in Mozambique. The Commander emphasised that the partnership between BRCS and the BDF is essential in ensuring coordinated and effective disaster response operations. Both parties discussed avenues for strengthening joint initiatives in disaster management, social services, and emergency preparedness. The dialogue reaffirmed a shared commitment to providing timely support to those in need.
