The Managing Director of Life Compass Botswana (Pty) Ltd, Mr. Shadrack “Shaduff” Baaitse, has strengthened support for education in the Sefhare Sub-Region through a major donation to Ngwapa Primary School. The contribution included two printing and photocopying machines valued at P35,000.00, handed over during a formal ceremony attended by village leadership, regional education officials, teachers, parents and learners. The initiative addressed a long standing operational challenge at the school, where access to reliable printing and copying services had limited daily teaching efficiency. The donation reflects a growing role of private sector leadership in supporting basic education infrastructure in Botswana. It also highlights how targeted interventions can directly improve school functionality at community level.

The equipment provided includes a multi purpose printing machine and a mini printing machine, both intended to improve access to learning materials for teachers and learners. These machines are expected to reduce delays in producing worksheets, assessments and administrative documents that are essential for classroom learning. Schools in rural and semi rural areas often face logistical barriers that affect the speed and consistency of academic delivery. By introducing on site printing capacity, Ngwapa Primary School can now respond more quickly to teaching demands and reduce dependence on external service providers. The donation is also expected to reduce operational costs over time, allowing the school to redirect resources toward other learning needs.

Mr. Baaitse explained during the handover ceremony that the decision followed a visit to the school where he learned about the daily challenges linked to printing and photocopying services. After engaging with teachers and understanding the impact on classroom preparation, Life Compass Botswana (Pty) Ltd committed to providing a practical solution. His response demonstrates a direct approach to community engagement, where identified needs are addressed through immediate action rather than long term consultation alone. The presence of multiple stakeholders at the handover reinforced the importance of collaboration between private entities and the education sector. It also showed how leadership involvement can translate into tangible improvements in school environments.

The donation received strong appreciation from education authorities, including the Acting Regional Director for the Central Region, Mr. Otukile Kedikilwe. He commended Mr. Baaitse for his generosity and described the support as meaningful in improving both teaching and learning outcomes. He further noted that such contributions are especially valuable during periods of economic pressure, where schools face increased strain on limited resources. According to regional education leadership, access to basic learning infrastructure plays a critical role in maintaining academic performance standards. The intervention at Ngwapa Primary School is therefore expected to have a lasting impact on both staff productivity and learner engagement.

In addition to the equipment donation, Mr. Baaitse extended financial support by sponsoring 50 percent of the development fees for all 178 learners at Ngwapa Primary School. This intervention reduced the financial burden on parents, who were required to pay only the remaining balance. Development fees are used to support essential school operations such as maintenance, learning materials and daily administrative functions. The support eased pressure on households while ensuring that the school continues to operate effectively. This form of assistance directly contributes to learner retention by reducing the risk of financial barriers affecting attendance and participation.

Mr. Baaitse also announced a long term education initiative known as the Baaitse Academic Achievement Awards, aimed at schools in Tswapong South. The programme is set to begin this year and will continue until 2031, creating a sustained framework for academic recognition. The initiative is designed to motivate learners and educators by rewarding performance and encouraging consistent academic improvement. By linking recognition to achievement, the programme is expected to strengthen school culture and promote healthy academic competition. It also reinforces a broader commitment to education development beyond immediate material support.

The combined interventions at Ngwapa Primary School reflect a broader approach to educational support that integrates infrastructure, financial assistance and long term motivation. The involvement of Life Compass Botswana (Pty) Ltd under the leadership of Mr. Shadrack “Shaduff” Baaitse demonstrates how private sector participation can complement public education efforts. The support provided to learners and staff at Ngwapa Primary School strengthens daily teaching operations while also addressing household financial pressures. With continued initiatives such as the Baaitse Academic Achievement Awards, schools in the region may experience improved morale and performance over time. The donation stands as a practical example of how targeted community investment can create measurable improvements in education delivery.
