Government to give livestock to Bobirwa Residents affected by livestock rustling

President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi says Government will give livestock to residents of Bobiwa constituency, who have been affected by livestock rustling along Botswana/Zimbabwe border.
Addressing a Kgotla meeting yesterday on livestock rustling in Semolale, President Masisi said residents who had asked for cattle, will receive heifer cows and will also be assisted with artificial insemination this year and be further trained on artificial insemination.

When giving feedback on the commission he appointed in September last year to assist with the problem of livestock rustling in Bobirwa, President Masisi stated that progress has been made in dealing with livestock theft that persisted for years and that has it has drastically reduced.

He further stated that Government has developed a digitization project for the Botswana/Zimbabwe cross border, which will use technology to curb crime, adding that drones will be used to help in combating crime.

He highlighted that Government had delivered on its promise to fight against livestock theft and will ensure continuity in combating livestock theft in the region.

President Masisi said livestock theft was caused by the deteriorating economic situation in Zimbabwe and to curb the situation, calls by Countries on upliftment of sanctions on Zimbabwe have been made in an effort for recovery of Zimbabwean economy.
