Seven Suspects arrested in operation Kgomokhumo V

In the on-going Operation Kgomokhumo in the Boteti Sub District, operatives have arrested seven suspects in connection with two separate cases of stealing stock.

The Kgomokhumo operatives on Friday (13/05/2022) arrested four (4) men in
in with possession of a carcass of a calf suspected to have been stolen.
The suspects, aged between 23 and 57 were arrested at their
home in Xere village
where they had kept the carcass.

The operatives also arrested three (3) suspects at Katika cattle post in Kedia
village on Saturday (14/05/22) in connection with a suspected stolen cow which
was left for dead in their farm with multiple wounds caused by a sharp
instrument.

The trio, aged between 19 and 62 were arrested at Kgaotse ward in Kedia. The
cow has been handed to its owner who positively identified it. The 62-year-old is a former herd boy for the complainant.

The suspects are currently in police custody helping the police with investigations
and are expected to appear before court very soon.
Meanwhile as the Kgomokhumo operation starts to take its inevitable toll on
stock thieves, reports on disassociation with stolen stock are escalating as stock
thieves attempt to escape the attention of the police by releasing and killing of the animals.

At Makhande cattlepost near Rakops village two suspected stolen cows were
