Botswana Savings Bank (BSB) has unveiled a powerful new savings initiative, the “Itirele Bontle” Deposit Campaign, aimed at inspiring Batswana to make saving a meaningful and rewarding part of their everyday lives. Rooted in the Setswana phrase meaning “do something beautiful for yourself,” the campaign encourages individuals and businesses to embrace saving not just as a financial habit, but as a path to empowerment and long-term security.
Launched in June 2025 and running through to December 31, the campaign offers promotional interest rates on select savings products, making it easier than ever for Batswana to start building their financial future. As part of this national drive, BSB is offering some of the most competitive, tax-free interest rates in the market on its Fixed Deposit Accounts.
Customers can now benefit from:
- 7% tax-free interest on a six-month fixed deposit
- 8% tax-free interest on a 12-month fixed deposit
With a minimum deposit requirement of just P1,000, these accounts are open to both individuals and businesses. Corporate clients can also negotiate for even higher rates, making this an attractive option across all income brackets.
In a major boost for everyday savers, BSB has also increased the interest rate on its Ordinary Savings Account from 1.75% to 5.5% per annum. This tax-free, flexible account requires only P50 to open, making it ideal for short- and medium-term savings goals such as school fees, travel plans, home upgrades, or emergency funds.
Available across all Botswana Savings Bank branches—including Gaborone (Tshomarelo House and Railpark), Francistown, Serowe, Hukuntsi, Gumare, Maun, Molepolole, Kanye, Palapye, and Mahalapye—the “Itirele Bontle” products are positioned to bring high-impact financial tools closer to communities across the country.
