Motocross enthusiasts are in for an adrenaline-fueled weekend as the Kalahari Cross Country Racing Club gears up to host the third round of the Botswana National Motocross Championship this Saturday. The high-octane showdown will take place at the scenic Mmopane motocross track, located near Sir Seretse Khama International Airport on the outskirts of Mmopane.
Anticipation is building as top riders from across the country prepare to battle it out in what promises to be one of the most fiercely contested rounds of the season. With championship points on the line and national pride at stake, fans can expect edge-of-the-seat racing action from start to finish.
Speaking during final preparations on Thursday, Kalahari Club chairperson Rose Mamaloukos expressed confidence in the club’s readiness to host the event. “We are proud to bring this exciting round of the championship to Mmopane,” said Mamaloukos. “The track is looking great, and we’re expecting a big turnout of riders and fans.”
Beyond the thrilling competition, this weekend’s race carries extra significance. Mamaloukos confirmed that the round will serve as a selection event for riders who will represent Botswana at the prestigious FIM Africa Motocross of African Nations (MXoAN) championship, scheduled to take place in Harare next month.
With the stakes higher than ever, all eyes will be on the Mmopane track as emerging talents and seasoned riders alike push their limits in pursuit of victory and a chance to compete on the continental stage.
As the engines roar to life on Saturday, Botswana’s motocross scene will once again take center stage, showcasing the passion, skill, and competitive spirit that continue to drive the sport forward.
