Four riders from the Cycle4Life Cycling Club will depart for South Africa tomorrow to compete in the 230km Trans Baviaans Mountain Bike race. The team consists of Maitseo Pelaelo, Tshepiso Mmoloke, Kago Monamodi, and Kagiso Potongwane.

The endurance race, regarded as one of the toughest single-stage mountain bike events in the world, will begin on Saturday morning in Willowmore. Riders will navigate challenging terrain through the Baviaanskloof wilderness before finishing at Mentors Country Estate in Jeffreys Bay, Eastern Cape, on Sunday.

The Trans Baviaans is known for testing physical endurance, mental strength, and teamwork. Participants face steep climbs, rocky paths, and night riding, making it a true challenge for even the most experienced cyclists.

“Trans Baviaans isn’t just a race, it’s an adventure that tests your limits, strengthens your team spirit, and leaves you with memories that last a lifetime,” said race founder Wikus Van Der Walt.

The Cycle4Life riders will be looking to represent Botswana with strong performances while gaining valuable experience in international competition.
