The Botswana Police Service (BPS) proudly joined thousands of fitness enthusiasts at the Annual Desert Bush Walk held on Saturday, 26 July 2025, at the Jwaneng Rugby Club. Led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), Mr Katlholo Mosimanegape, officers from BPS took on both the 15 km and the more demanding 30 km trek, demonstrating a strong commitment to physical endurance, team spirit, and public engagement.
More than just a test of stamina, BPS’s participation highlighted the service’s deep commitment to the health, fitness, and mental wellness of its members. As Deputy Commissioner Mosimanegape and his team marched through Jwaneng’s rugged terrain, they did so as ambassadors of a policing model that values personal well-being as a pillar of professional excellence.
For the Botswana Police Service, such initiatives go far beyond recreation. They form part of a deliberate strategy to promote holistic wellness among officers, ensuring they remain physically prepared and mentally resilient to meet the demands of modern policing. At the same time, public participation events like the Desert Bush Walk offer opportunities to build stronger community ties, foster trust, and enhance the visibility of law enforcement in a positive and accessible way.
The Desert Bush Walk, now a much-anticipated event on Botswana’s wellness calendar, continues to bring together people from all walks of life. With the BPS visibly present and actively engaged, the 2025 edition sent a clear message: policing is not just about law enforcement—it’s also about walking alongside communities, step by step, toward a healthier and more united nation.
