The Botswana Police Service (BPS) participated in the fifth edition of the Botswana Defence Force Athletics Club (BDF AC) Mogoditshane Half Marathon 2025 on 17 August. The event featured a 5km fun run, a 10km race, and the 21km half marathon, and was held under the theme “Healthy Steps, Stronger Communities.”

Deputy Commissioner of Police for Support Services, Mr Solomon Mantswe, led the BPS team. He was joined by members of the Senior Management Team and officers from various police establishments in Gaborone. Mr Mantswe also presented medals and prize money to the winners of the 21km senior men category, marking a highlight of the day.

Beyond competing, the BPS set up information stalls at the marathon venue. Officers shared crime prevention tips, road safety messages, and engaged directly with members of the public. This interaction reinforced the service’s commitment to building positive community relationships.

Participation in marathons has become a valued tradition for the BPS. The organisation supports such events as part of its focus on wellness, physical fitness, and teamwork. These events also provide a platform for officers to connect with communities in a positive and engaging environment, fostering trust and partnership.

The BPS emphasises that endurance, discipline, and resilience are core to effective policing. Their involvement in the 2025 Mogoditshane Half Marathon underscores the service’s ongoing commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles while strengthening community engagement.
