President of Bostwana visits the American Museum
President Mokgweetsi E. K. Masisi visited the American Museum of Natural History in New York on the sidelines of his engagement at the ECOSOC forum at the United Nations.
The American Museum of Natural History has one of Botswanaβs rare diamonds, Okavango Blue on display.
This famous museum, attracting over 5 million visitors annually has 5000 minerals including gems from all over the world currently on display.
President Masisi explained, βThe Okavango Diamond Company (ODC) has loaned the diamond to the museum as part of our strategy to actively use diamonds as part of our tourism attractions. The diamond has also been put on display here to showcase our ethical mining as well as to share Botswanaβs diamonds for development story.
