EH Construction has contributed P1 million to support this year’s OLDM GM’s Walk, also known as the Walk for Water, which aims to raise P6 million to tackle water challenges in the Boteti district. The sponsorship builds on the company’s ongoing partnership with Debswana, guided by a shared commitment to social impact. Last year, EH Construction sponsored the event with P800 000, supporting initiatives that extended beyond the walk itself.
According to Markos Anthony Markidos, Director of EH Construction, “Every successful business has the responsibility to positively impact the wellbeing of communities.” The increased sponsorship this year is expected to strengthen the Walk for Water, reaching more participants and raising awareness about water-related challenges in local communities.
Boitumelo Senyane, Chairperson of the GM’s Walk Committee, highlighted the scale of the challenge. “Water infrastructure is expensive, but there are 13 villages in Boteti without water. We are not yet where we want to be, but we are winners and will get there. At the end of the day, we aim to make a meaningful impact in our area of influence,” she said.
Last year, the GM’s Walk collected P4.5 million, and this year’s target of P6 million reflects the organizers’ ambition to expand support for communities in need. The event continues to provide a platform for collaboration between businesses, local residents, and corporate partners to address critical social issues and promote sustainable community development.
