Girona FC Academy Coach Selects 15 Botswana Players for The Showcase in Madrid

Spanish La Liga side Girona Futbol Club’s Academy coach, David Ibáñez Ruano, has selected 15 talented players from Botswana to participate in the prestigious football talent scouting event, The Showcase, set to take place in Madrid, Spain, from July 25 to 30, 2025.

The selection process was held at the Lobatse Sports Complex on Wednesday, where young footballers showcased their skills in hopes of catching the eye of European scouts. The selected players, aged between 14 and 23, will now compete against 100 of the best youth players from across the world during the event in Madrid.

The Showcase is recognized as one of the most significant football scouting platforms in Europe. It attracts elite scouts from top-tier football clubs across the continent. For many young footballers, The Showcase represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be noticed and potentially signed by professional teams in Spain and other parts of Europe.
