Thata Kenosi has just shared throw back memories of our 2 beauty queens Mpule Kwelagobe and Emma Wareus both of whom did us proud on an international level in their respective beauty contests. Thata has made it clear that former Miss Universe, Mpule Kwelagobe is her idol,and what better way to follow in her footsteps by bringing that blue crown home!
“Throw backΒ to May 1999, when Mpule Kwelagobe, as the first ever delegate for the Miss Universe pageant from Botswana, made history by beating more than 80 other delegates to win the competition. She was the first African-born Black woman to be crowned Miss Universe and the third Black woman to be crowned in the pageantβs history,” she said.
Thata confidently continued to say, “Emma Wareus was placed first runner-up to Miss World 2010 on October 30, 2010 in Sanya, China. This being the highest placement for a woman from Botswana in the history of the pageant. And the highest placement of a Botswana beauty queen since Mpule Kwelagobe won Miss Universe 1999. Will 2016 be another successful year for Botswana as we celebrate 50 Years of Independence,ITS possibleΒ , I Believe I will be the Next Miss World, See it, Believe It ,achieve It.”
