Minister of Health Hon. Dr Stephen Modise, ahead of officiating the 2025 Botswana Dentists Association Congress in Kasane today, made an unannounced visit to Kasane Primary Hospital yesterday. The visit aimed to assess the availability of medicines and medical commodities, and to gain firsthand insight into the hospital’s operations.

Shortly after his arrival, a truck from the Central Medical Stores (CMS) in Gaborone delivered a fresh supply of medicines and medical commodities to the hospital. Dr Modise then visited the hospital pharmacy, where he was informed that most essential medicines were generally available and stocked.

The Minister proceeded to the Chobe District warehouse, responsible for supplying all clinics in the district. Pharmacy officers reported a substantial increase in stock levels since the declaration of the state of public health emergency. This improvement ensures that clinics in the district maintain a steady supply of essential medicines.

Dr Modise also visited the nearby Kasane clinic, where nurses expressed satisfaction with the consistent availability of medicines and medical supplies. The Minister’s visit highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery, monitor supply chains, and ensure that facilities are adequately equipped to meet community needs.

The unannounced visit demonstrates the Ministry of Health’s commitment to transparency, efficiency, and proactive management of public health resources ahead of major health events and ongoing service delivery.
