Earlier yesterday, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Hon. Noah S.L.M Salakae, convened a technical meeting in Shakawe to assess progress on critical road infrastructure projects. The session brought together Pius Seone, Deputy Permanent Secretary responsible for Roads Infrastructure, and technical officers from Shakawe, Gumare, and Maun. The discussion focused on ensuring that ongoing projects meet both timelines and community needs.

Key roads under review included the Gumare-Sepopa, Sepopa-Shakawe, and Mohembo-Gudigwa routes, all vital for regional connectivity and economic growth. The Minister emphasized the importance of translating Government commitments into tangible improvements for local communities. He noted that effective road infrastructure is essential for mobility, trade, and access to essential services.

To further engage communities, Minister Salakae will hold Kgotla meetings starting tomorrow in Shakawe. These consultations aim to ensure that residents’ priorities are integrated into project planning and execution. The initiative highlights the Government’s focus on inclusive development and its commitment to improving the quality of life for Batswana.

By monitoring project progress and maintaining direct engagement with communities, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure seeks to deliver lasting benefits. Improved roads in the Shakawe region are expected to strengthen economic activity, enhance connectivity, and support the overall development agenda for northern Botswana.
