The office of the Member of Parliament for Molepolole North, in partnership with Absa, hosted a Gender-Based Violence (GBV) workshop yesterday aimed at raising awareness, supporting survivors, and uniting communities against GBV.

Molepolole, located in Botswana’s Kweneng District, has been identified as one of the areas with high rates of GBV. The workshop provided a platform for community members, local leaders, and stakeholders to discuss the challenges posed by GBV and explore practical measures to address them.

Participants were educated on the different forms of GBV, including physical, emotional, and economic abuse. Support services available to survivors, including counseling, legal aid, and medical assistance, were also highlighted. Organizers emphasized the role of the community in identifying and reporting cases, as well as creating safe spaces for victims to seek help.

The event underscored the importance of collaboration between government offices, financial institutions, civil society, and local communities to combat GBV effectively. By raising awareness and providing resources, the initiative aims to reduce incidents of violence and empower survivors to rebuild their lives.

This workshop is part of ongoing efforts in Molepolole North to strengthen community resilience against GBV and ensure that victims receive timely support while promoting a culture of accountability and respect.
