President Duma Boko received a courtesy call from former Senegalese President Macky Sall at the Office of the President. The meeting marked a significant diplomatic engagement between the two African leaders.
During the visit, Macky Sall shared reflections from his time in office, highlighting key policy lessons and leadership experiences. He spoke at length about the urgency of addressing global challenges, especially climate change, which continues to threaten food security, water resources, and livelihoods across Africa.
Sall emphasized the need for strong regional cooperation to confront environmental issues. He called for increased investment in sustainable development, clean energy, and cross-border partnerships to mitigate the impact of climate-related threats on African economies.
President Boko echoed these views, noting that climate resilience must become a core focus for African governments. He stressed the role of shared expertise and coordinated policies in creating long-term solutions.
The two leaders also discussed ways to deepen bilateral relations between Botswana and Senegal. They explored opportunities for collaboration in trade, education, and infrastructure development. Both expressed a commitment to strengthening diplomatic and economic ties.
The meeting forms part of Botswana’s broader efforts to engage with former and current leaders across the continent to promote dialogue, cooperation, and sustainable growth.
