President Advocate Duma Boko presided over the swearing-in of six newly appointed High Court judges in Palapye today, marking a significant milestone in Botswana’s judicial history. The ceremony was held on the sidelines of the ongoing Judiciary Conference and was attended by judiciary officials, legal practitioners, and key representatives from government institutions.
The judges who took the oath of office are Oteng Motlhala, Bafi Nlanda, Linah Mokibe, Felicity Singweni, Nomsa Moatswi, and Tshekiso Tshekiso. Their appointment is expected to strengthen the High Court bench and improve the efficiency and delivery of justice across the country.
In his address, President Boko reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to upholding the independence of the judiciary and promoting access to justice for all citizens. He praised the new judges for their legal acumen, professional integrity, and unwavering dedication to justice, encouraging them to uphold the highest standards of impartiality and constitutional duty.
The Judiciary Conference, which convenes legal minds from across the country, aims to tackle pressing issues within the justice system, including backlog management, judicial reforms, and enhancing the rule of law in Botswana.
