President Advocate Duma Gideon Boko has departed Gaborone for New York, United States, to participate in the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 80), scheduled from 20th to 27th September 2025.
The 80th Session coincides with the United Nations’ 80th anniversary and will be observed under the theme “Better Together. 80 Years More for Peace, Development and Human Rights.” President Boko is set to deliver his first address to the General Assembly on 25th September, reaffirming Botswana’s commitment to multilateralism, sustainable development, global peace, and the promotion of human rights.
During the session, President Boko will take part in several high-level engagements, including the Opening of the United Nations Global Compact’s Global Africa Business Initiative (GABI): 4th Unstoppable Africa 2025. He will also deliver keynote addresses, serve as co-host and panelist at selected events, and hold bilateral meetings with world leaders to strengthen cooperation and explore partnership opportunities.
President Boko is scheduled to return to Gaborone on 28th September 2025, bringing back insights and commitments from the international forum to advance Botswana’s diplomatic and development agenda.
