A rabbit farmer from Matshelagabedi, Ms Timbu Ntjenje, claimed first place in the Rabbit Category at the ongoing National Agricultural Show in Gaborone. The show, which began on Monday and runs until Sunday, is held under the theme: Enhancing Agricultural Productivity Through Utilisation of Modern Technology.

Ntjenje began her farming journey in 2018 through the Nyeletso Lehuma programme. She runs Timbu Farming & Rabbitry Enterprise, specialising in premium rabbit breeds including New Zealand White, Chinchilla, and California.

Her enterprise produces both rabbit meat and pelts. Rabbit meat is valued for its high nutritional content, while the pelts are in demand for various commercial purposes.

Ntjenje credited her success to dedication, careful breeding practices, and adopting modern farming techniques. Her achievement highlights the growing potential of small-scale rabbit farming in contributing to food security and economic development in Botswana.

The National Agricultural Show provides a platform for farmers to showcase innovative practices, modern technologies, and high-quality produce, promoting agricultural growth across the country.
