Vacancy-Cost Accountant – DWD Engineering (PTY) LTD

Job description

The individual will report to the Chief Financial Officer

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that costs are recorded accurately in the books. Invoices are coded to the correct ledger accounts, cost centers and projects
  • Manage the team which produces and analyses cost reports
  • Responsible for the day-to-day supervision, training and development of the team
  • Provide objectives and appraisals on an annual basis
  • Run the month end process for costs and provide an analysis of actual costs against standards
  • Gain an understanding of each business unit so as to assess the financial risks and opportunities
  • Meet each business unit head on a regular basis to support them in analysing and understanding of their units’ monthly results
  • Provide support during the annual audit process by working with the auditors to answer queries and provide analysis as required
  • Flash meetings – Prepare, facilitate and report on monthly performance of all business units

  • Ability to work independently
  • High degree of planning and organisational skills
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong Microsoft and Excel skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills



  • Applicants must be qualified CIMA
  • Factory/Manufacturing accounting experience is a requirement
  • A minimum of 3-5 years working experience in a Cost and Management Accounting position
