Vacancy- Environmental Health Officer Wanted At Debswana

Job Summary:

Implementation of Environmental Health Programmes at all areas of Orapa Letlhakane & Damtshaa mines

Minimum Requirements:

β€’ Diploma in Environmental Health or equivalent

β€’ Two years post qualification experience

β€’ Valid Driver’s license

Key Effectiveness Areas:

β€’ Recommends and incorporates cost saving initiatives into budgets.

β€’ Assess and investigates the health hazards associated with the community on a regular basis and provides public education and awareness.

β€’ Develops waste management working plans and schedules for departments, tenants and service providers in line with the masterplan.

β€’ Conducts food inspections and audits in food establishments to ensure compliance with food safety control programmes and compliance with food legislation.

β€’ Monitor food safety in food premises by taking swabs and samples for bacterial analysis and advice proprietors on corrective measures.

β€’ Conducts ante and post mortem meat inspections of food animals to ensure that meat is fit for human consumption and condemn and dispose unfit carcasses and/or organs.

β€’ Manages the landfill waste disposal by ensuring different types of waste are disposed in the designed correct areas, daily waste covering and compaction are executed as per landfill specifications and ensuring access control to the landfill and maintaining access records.

β€’ Compiles EHO activities reports and submits to line management.

β€’ Inspects conditions and works at all Town landfills and all premises in town on an ongoing basis to ensure compliance to company

SHE requirements, legal requirements and best practice waste management practices and ensures that deviations are rectified.

β€’ Investigates cases of infection/communicable diseases and isolates and liaises with Chief Medical Officer for treatment, also reporting such outbreaks to the Ministry of Health.

β€’ Ensures compliance to overall health requirements through enforcement of Public Health related Acts such as Public Health

Act, Food Control Act , Factories Act, Waste Management Act,

Trade Act and Liquor Act, Building Control Act, Agrochemicals

Acts, Relevant Mine Policies and Procedures .

β€’ Implements water quality surveillance programme by ensuring periodic sampling of water for bacteriological analysis as per the drinking water quality standards and interprets and ensure implementation of remedial action where necessary.

β€’ Supervises contractors or outsourced services to ensure compliance to Services Level Agreements and achievement of company objectives in area of responsibility.

β€’ Adheres to all Safety, Health, Environmental and corporate governance principles, policies and procedures in area of responsibility
