Vice President and Minister of Finance, Ndaba Nkosinathi Gaolathe, held talks with representatives of AIBOS Co., Ltd. during the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9). The discussions focused on youth empowerment, AI-driven reskilling, and innovation as part of Botswana’s broader agenda to embrace technology in development.

The Vice President welcomed AIBOS’s interest in Botswana and highlighted opportunities for collaboration in digital education and workforce transformation. He also noted the company’s employee management system, already in use in Uganda, which supports performance management and accountability. He expressed interest in exploring how the system could be applied to Botswana’s public and private sectors to strengthen efficiency and service delivery.

AIBOS is a Japanese company that develops personalised AI and IT solutions. It designs school and educational management systems that align with digitalisation goals in the education sector. Beyond software, the company works closely with young people in programming and software development, recruiting talent from high schools and universities. Its model is built on solving local challenges with local experiences, with the flexibility to expand ideas both nationally and globally.

The company indicated interest in visiting Botswana later this year to engage stakeholders on its partnership proposals. Such engagements could support Botswana’s goals of preparing its youth for the future of work while accelerating digital transformation across education and workforce management.

The meeting at TICAD9 reflects Botswana’s commitment to leveraging global partnerships in innovation, ensuring that emerging technologies translate into practical solutions that create opportunities for young people and advance national development priorities.
