Khama harassment goes on?

Hardly a day after the Directorate on Intelligence and Security Services (DIS) denied harassing the former President, it has been revealed that the DIS has arrested Khama’s head of security.

The statement which was released by the DIS yesterday accused some media houses of disinformation. The directorate says the media houses wants to paint a picture that former President Lt. Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama is being harassed, while it is not so. The DIS says that the false narrative is aimed at shielding former President Khama, and his associates from being duly investigated.

On the other hand, the former President, through his Facebook page earlier today mentioned that the DIS searched, and arrested his head of security.

“So today they raided Shakawe for the whole day and found nothing . Except to say they may go back. They arrested the head of my private security. They have stopped my house staff, gardeners etc from entering the property so they can go in there undetected to plant bugs and chemicals in the house. They are also planning to arrest all other private security staff as they did when they detained their own who they think are loyal and confiscated their phones whilst threatening them to implicate me, ” former President Khama alleged.

The same residence which former President Khama claim that the DIS found nothing from is among those which the DIS failed to tell the court about its search results when requesting for a warrant to search State House 4.

Meanwhile, Khama is still at South Africa since crossing the border on the 8th November 2021. He has indicated that he is still on consultations and meetings, and will be back as soon as he completes them.

“Fellow citizens, I am short of words to express my most sincere gratitude and appreciation for the overwhelming messages of goodwill, support, encouragement and your prayers that I have received from you, Batswana. I am also receiving the same expressions of goodwill and support from Batswana outside the country as well as nationals of foreign countries.

Rest assured that, I am not in exile, never. Once I have completed my round of consultations and meetings I will be returning. I intend that to be sooner rather than later.

In the meantime, let us also pray for a quick end to the crisis our country has been plunged into. Pula!”
