Minister of Defense paid a visit to the soldiers

Today, the Minister of Defense and Security Honourable Thomas Kagiso Mmusi and the Permanent Secretary Ms Botlhale Makgekgenene went to Sir Seretse Khama Barracks where they paid a visit to the soldiers whose property and accommodation were gutted by fire some days ago. “We came here to check on you and see damage done by fire to your houses. It is a sad story indeed and together with your leadership we will do our best to make sure that you are assisted.” When briefing the Minister, The Commander of Botswana Defense Force Lieutenant General Placid Diratsagae Segokgo informed the Minister that the fire destroyed the property of 28 soldiers and nothing was salvaged.. ” Sir, 28 soldiers lost everything and we are doing our outmost best to assist them. I have access to the Welfare fund and we will assist them to get the necessary items. Lt General Segokgo further informed the Minister that the affected soldiers have been accommodated in another place. The visit by the Minister comes some few days after the Commander in Chief President Dr Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi visited the Army Barracks.
