President Advocate Duma Gideon Boko welcomed Dominican Republic Ambassador Designate Erika Ylonca Alvarez Rodriguez during a courtesy call yesterday. He thanked her for the growing partnership between the two countries and highlighted shared goals for long term development.
He said both nations aim to transition into high income economies by 2036. He added that close cooperation will support this goal. He pointed to the Dominican Republic’s national digital health strategy for 2024 to 2028 as an important model. He said Botswana is carrying out similar reforms focused on digital health, universal health coverage, universal health insurance and improved service delivery.
He said the exchange of ideas, lessons and best practices will strengthen development in both countries. He expressed interest in deeper cultural and economic ties. He mentioned products unique to the Dominican Republic as an area for further collaboration.
He thanked the Ambassador Designate for the visit. He said he looked forward to continued partnership and stronger relations between Botswana and the Dominican Republic.
