All Roads lead to Detroit

Youthful Batswana Entrepreneurs who left for Detroit, USA to attend the Forbes U30 Summit, themed ‘Celebrating A Decade Of Disruption’.
Forbes is an initiative of His Excellency the President, Dr. MEK Masisi, championed by the Ministry of Entrepreneurship.
The initiative is to foster business development in the country at youth level, by creating platforms for the youth of Botswana to engage with their peers at global stage.

His proficiencies in project management, research and production have given him management roles in national events including national projects such as Pula! Botswana on Broadway – New York, Dubai Expo 2020 and government outreach programs that have given work opportunities to over 1000 youth in 8 years with Mophato Dance Theatre. His business acumen earned him a position as the youngest member of the International Dance Council CID (UNESCO) Paris with members in 170 countries that create social impact across the globe to challenge unemployment of youth in creative industry. Steadfast Energy is a pioneer in the mobile fuelling station market that provides 150 000 litres a month to businesses in transportation, hospitality, logistics and retail industry. The 100% youth owned company has a full range of services and supplies in the Fuel/Petroleum Industry. Under services the organisation offers tank maintenance, Installation of dispensing pumps and firefighting equipment maintenance. The supplies division is primarily focused on the supply of Petrol, Diesel and oil Lubricants. This creates ease of access for our customers to products they would otherwise find difficult to acquire, reduce their carbon footprint and unlocks savings for clients during the recession offering the cheapest fuel in Botswana. Mr. Molefi is CIMA Part Qualified.

Change Africa has successfully capacitated over 200 young people to engage in policy interventions, through a flagship programme called Debating Botswana. Further, over 20 youth-owned businesses have been supported with ecosystem development and opportunity linkages, both in Botswana and outside. Currently, Change Africa is working on the countryโ€™s first Youth in Leadership Advocacy Agenda and the Youth in Public Policy Hackathon, both intended to advance Botswanaโ€™s National Transformation Strategy. Mr. Disepo, serves in the Botswana National Youth Council Board as a Chair for Diversity & Social Inclusion Sub-Committee; National Steering Committee for the UNโ€™s Generation Unlimited, where His Excellency President Masisi is Champion; National Strategy Committee for His Excellencyโ€™s Reset Agenda, Priority 5 โ€“ Mindset Change; Trustee for the Alumni of the University of Botswana Development Trust; Botswana Top Achieversโ€™ Review Committee. Kaene has an MSc in Development Management & a BSc in International Relations both from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), under the prestigious Top Achievers Scholarship Programme by the Botswana Government.

He is the founder of Mohiri- an online jobs platform that uses artificial Intelligence to improve the access and distribution of hiring information for the everyday Motswana. Mohiri will soon be available to USSD and SMS users, bringing information that is available on the internet, to users without smartphones. Thato is also the founder of WeBuyGrains and SellYourGrains, a merchant trading platform that helps connect farmers with buyers of different commodities, bridging the market and pricing gaps that exist for farmers in Botswana. Mr. Kasongo has won several technology start-up awards and has represented his business and Botswana overall at the Seedstars Africa Summit, AfricArena Southern Africa Summit, SLUSH-Finland 2019, Europe’s largest technology conference. The business acumen is an alumni of the Stanford Graduate School of Business – Go To Market Program.

He managed to spearhead and develop a niche that connects organisations to people through social media, in a way that encapsulates Africaโ€™s progressiveness, hence the tagline #GlobllyAfrican. The innovator is a digital solutions disrupter and a Forbes 30U30 nominee with awards in software, taking first place across SADC in the Innovation and Investment Challenge with a financial Identity Software application called Digital Diamond. He won the Total Start-Up competition for an electricity monitoring and remote top-up App EZPC and in his 3rd year of University he placed first in the Island wide Huawei app competition for his product โ€œGet It Doneโ€ that reduced unemployment and provide a stream of income for university students by allowing them to do Adhoc tasks for others in their community. He is also the design patent holder for Botswanaโ€™s 1st Mobile Digital Wi-Fi-enabled, truck, which took part in Absa Botswana’s 2020 Bank Launch and Lady-Neo Masisi Walk against Gender-based Violence to name a few. His Software Design & Development company Digital Natives has a footprint in 3 African countries and is currently expanding to its 4th one in Zambia.

The guesthouses are luxury boutique offering luxury at an affordable price. Laone is passionate about community development and in 2018 she co-founded an NGO called The Lentswe Organization, which is aimed at domesticating the UN Sustainable Development Goals in Botswana. Currently, the organization has impacted over 2000 upper primary students in the South East District through our flagship programme – Vend day. Moitshepi is the Chairperson of the Botswana National Youth Council. She is the Managing Director & Coโ€“founder of Youth Impact Organisation, a youth-led movement reaching 100,000 youth in 10 countries. Youth Impact’s mission is to translate rigorous research into high-impact health and education programs. She graduated with an LLB from the University of Botswana. Moitshepi is the first Motswana to receive the Queenโ€™s Young Leaders Award and an Obama Leader for Africa 2019. Furthermore, she was chosen by Former President Mogae as a Youth Champion for the Champions for An AIDS-Free Generation and was recognized as one of 50 Batswana Change-Makers Under 40 during Botswanaโ€™s 50th independence celebration. She is a mentor for the UNGWA Africa Program and is an active alumni for the Young Women’s Leadership Club at UB.
