The Botswana Economic Transformation Programme (BETP) took a major step forward yesterday as project owners presented their initiatives to investors and financiers at Fairgrounds in Gaborone. The event aimed to attract funding and support for projects aligned with Botswana’s economic transformation goals.

Vice President and Minister of Finance Ndaba Nkosinathi Gaolathe addressed the gathering. He explained that BETP aligns with the National Development Plan 12, which sets Botswana’s development goals. BETP provides the roadmap for achieving these objectives.

Mr Gaolathe described BETP as a comprehensive redesign of Botswana’s economic architecture. The programme aims to create a diversified, integrated, and competitive economy. It focuses on industrial competitiveness and connecting Botswana to global markets.

The showcase featured 186 projects spanning multiple sectors. These included tourism, energy, mining, financial services, digitalisation, agriculture, and manufacturing. Investors had the opportunity to engage with project owners and explore funding opportunities that support Botswana’s long-term economic growth.

The event highlighted the government’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment, encouraging innovation, and expanding economic opportunities for both local and international investors.
