Botswana Table Tennis Association Concludes Senior National Team Selection Trials

The Botswana Table Tennis Association (BTTA) has successfully concluded its Senior National Team selection trials, confirming the players who will represent the country in elite international competitions during the 2026 season. The trials showcased the top talent in the country and determined the athletes eligible for the men’s and ladies’ senior national squads.

In the men’s singles category, Boago Malobela of NHABE claimed the top spot in the final standings, securing his place in the senior national team. He will be joined by Tshireletso Samuel from BDF, who finished second and also earned automatic selection. Both players will link up with established national team member Bakang Maloka, completing Botswana’s men’s elite squad for international assignments in 2026. The final men’s rankings saw Kola Modisathebe of D-T-T-C place third, followed by Mompati Chabe (BDF) in fourth position, highlighting the competitive nature of the trials.

In the ladies’ singles category, Emmah Lelatisitswe of NHABE emerged as the leading performer, finishing first overall. Boithamo Nkele from Bontleng/Ithuteng secured second place, joining top-ranked Tshepiso Rebatenne in the national team selection. Tsholofelo Gaokgalemelwe (BDF) and Salome Matlhatsi (BDF) completed the top four, ensuring a strong lineup for Botswana’s female table tennis representatives.

With the selection process concluded on Sunday, BTTA is now shifting its focus to structured training programs and international exposure. The association plans to implement a comprehensive elite performance strategy to prepare the athletes for high-level competition and strengthen Botswana’s presence in the international table tennis arena. The finalized squads signal a new chapter for Botswana table tennis, combining experienced players with emerging talent to build a competitive and cohesive team for the 2026 season.
