Innovation took centre stage as LEA attended the launch of Ithute software, a groundbreaking learning technology platform developed by LEA client Tecboe. The event showcased what Botswana-built software can deliver, emphasizing local talent and homegrown solutions for real-world education challenges. Ithute was presented as a fully integrated system that combines digital learning, school management, and inclusive education features in a single platform. Its launch signals a step forward in modernizing education while reinforcing the potential of locally developed technology.

During the launch, Goabaone Mogwe highlighted Ithute’s core capabilities, detailing its role as a comprehensive digital learning and school management platform. The software enables seamless lesson delivery, assessments, and learner performance tracking. It also offers content management and school administration tools, all accessible through a single system designed for both classroom and home use. Schools can now manage attendance, progress reports, academic records, and communication digitally, improving efficiency and ensuring data-driven decision-making.

Ithute is built to support multiple learning levels, from Pre-Primary to Senior School, and includes dedicated dashboards for teachers and learners. Its accessibility features promote inclusive learning, ensuring that no learner is left behind. By combining functionality with inclusivity, the platform addresses the diverse needs of Botswana’s education system. It also provides opportunities for educators to monitor progress and deliver tailored interventions, strengthening overall learning outcomes.

Delivering the keynote address, Mr Mompati Baiphethi, Head of Capability Development at LEA, emphasized that Ithute represents more than technology. He described it as an economic enabler, powered by local innovation and homegrown intellectual property. The platform demonstrates that Botswana innovators can develop scalable, competitive solutions while maintaining cultural relevance. Ithute also aligns with LEA’s mandate to support innovation commercialization, youth entrepreneurship, and digital transformation in the education sector.

LEA encourages schools, parents, partners, and policymakers to explore, pilot, and support locally developed education solutions like Ithute. The platform fosters a broader ecosystem for educators, developers, content creators, and administrators, extending beyond a single application. Ithute’s launch reinforces that the future of education is digital, and that Botswana has the capacity to build this future locally, by youth for youth, creating opportunities for sustainable growth and innovation in the education sector.
