Materspei College successfully organised a week-long boot camp for its 2026 Form 5 learners, aimed at fostering discipline, leadership, and holistic development. The initiative reflects the school’s commitment to producing well-focused, responsible, and resilient students.
Speaking during the training sessions, School Head Mr. Babuluki Bajiti highlighted the school’s partnership with a Letlhakane-based Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) that specialises in instilling discipline among youth groups across Botswana. He noted that this collaboration aims to equip learners with the skills and mindset needed to excel academically and socially.
The boot camp combined rigorous physical training with mental fitness exercises. Learners participated in structured activities designed to enhance leadership skills, effective communication, study strategies, and examination preparation techniques. Additionally, guided discussions addressed critical topics such as mental health awareness and prevention of drug and alcohol abuse.
The Leaders Boot Camp Training Institute’s Coordinating Officer, Mr. Kefilwe Boikhutso, emphasised the NGO’s impact, noting that it has successfully transformed many youth groups into disciplined and responsible citizens. He praised Materspei College for prioritising character development alongside academic achievement.
North East Regional Director, Mr. Labane Mokgosi, commended the school and its partner for focusing on learner discipline. He underscored the importance of character-building boot camps in shaping young people who are responsible, resilient, and prepared to contribute positively to society. Mr. Mokgosi further noted that such initiatives support Botswana’s broader social and economic development by nurturing a generation of committed and capable citizens.
The week-long boot camp at Materspei College demonstrates the value of integrating discipline, leadership, and life skills into secondary education. By combining physical training, mental fitness, and guided mentorship, the school prepares learners to meet academic challenges while developing into well-rounded individuals.
