Selebi Phikwe Citrus – Vital for job creation and food security

Selebi Phikwe Citrus started operating in 2020 in a 1 500-hectare farm and has up to date planted over 650 000 trees. The farm currently employs 150 permanent people and will increase to 1500 employees once it is at full capacity.

The farm will assist in diversifying the country’s agro industry, with spin-off effects that will generate other value chain business opportunities such as, fruit drying, trucking and fresh produce. The project will transform the landscape of citrus production in Botswana and contribute to economic growth. It has planted grapefruits, oranges, lemons and Naches fruit.

They will export 80 percent of their produce to America, Europe, Japan and Canada.
