The Vice President and Member of Parliament for Gaborone Bonnington South, Mr. Ndaba Nkosinathi Gaolathe, launched the Clean Up and Revamp Campaign yesterday at the Gaborone West Community Hall. The initiative aims to improve public spaces, enhance community living, and promote environmental awareness.

Mr. Gaolathe highlighted the wealth of expertise within the community, noting that residents can contribute in multiple ways. Some can provide financial support, while others offer skills in areas such as environmental conservation, agriculture, or physical labour. He emphasised that collective participation would make the country cleaner, more attractive, and more livable for all.

The Vice President encouraged residents to take active steps in beautifying their surroundings. Recommendations included planting trees and flowers, installing water fountains, clearing overgrown bushes, and improving trading spaces for hawkers. These efforts are intended to create safer, more welcoming, and visually appealing community areas.

The first phase of the four-week campaign will focus on public awareness and community mobilisation. Activities will include clearing open spaces, revamping public facilities, and enhancing hawkers’ trading areas. By engaging residents directly, the campaign seeks to build a sense of ownership and responsibility toward maintaining clean and well-managed public spaces.

Mr. Gaolathe concluded by urging everyone to participate actively, stressing that even small contributions collectively lead to significant improvements in the quality of life and the overall environment in Gaborone.
