Zantete Primary School, a newly built education facility in Letlhakane, officially received its first intake of learners today. The school is located in Phase II Extension and welcomed more than 700 pupils on its opening day. This marks a major boost to education infrastructure in the Boteti district.

The school offers classes from pre-primary up to Standard Six. It also includes a dedicated special education department designed to support learners with additional needs. This setup ensures inclusive access to education for children from different backgrounds within the community.

School head Ms Oakantse Kenyaditswe said the intake included beginners from the surrounding location. Learners from Standard Two upwards were transferred from other existing schools. This arrangement aims to reduce congestion while improving learning conditions across Letlhakane.

Boteti District Council chairperson Mr Onkhuparetse Monnaatsie urged teachers and school management to protect the new facility. He stressed the importance of instilling discipline among learners to prevent vandalism. According to him, maintaining the school will ensure long term benefits for the community.

Mr Monnaatsie also raised safety concerns due to the school’s double storey design. He appealed to teachers to continuously educate learners on safety precautions. The focus is to prevent pushing and injuries on staircases during breaks and movement between classes.

The opening of Zantete Primary School reflects ongoing efforts to improve access to quality education in Letlhakane. With proper management, discipline, and safety awareness, the school is expected to play a key role in shaping the academic future of children in the area.
