Give Athletes Well Paying Endorsements

His Excellency President, Dr Mokgweetsi E. K. Masisi calls on the private sector to make Botswana athletes successful by giving them lucrative endorsements.

The President said this when the World Boxing Federation Junior lightweight champion, Mr Steven Bagwasi and his team paid him a courtesy call today at the Office of the President.

Bagwasi beat Said Chino of Tanzania in August in a much-anticipated fight. “You are fresh and young. Work on your brand and associate with corporates that can leverage from your greatness.” The President also thanked Bagwasi’s sponsor, Coca Cola Beverages Botswana urging them to do more.

Athlete endorsement is a marketing promotional strategy that is frequently used by companies to reach a wider target audience, to outstand from their competitors, create brand awareness as well as to make a higher profit. The President said Batswana athletes are making a mark in the world and should monitise their status at home.
