The 2022 BDF AC Mogoditshane half Marathon

Held on the 28th August 2022 at the Sir Seretse Khama Barracks in Mogoditshane, the 3rd edition of the BDF AC Mogoditshane Half Marathon which started early morning and ended at 1200 midday was the definite experience of a lifetime for fitness fanatics. With over 1000 runners registered including two from Kenya and South Africa, the participation categories constituted of both males and females running 21km, 10km and 5km. Toping it all up was a specialized category set aside for disabled people. Companies from the Business community which took a proactive approach to sponsor the event included Choppies, Mascom, BPOMAS, Fours, Impression House, Furnmart, Quin Investments and Botswana Tourism.

This year’s fun-filled endurance session became a mass phenomenon for the history of the BDF AC half marathon as contenders jointly partook in a fitness session, showing that “The reason we race isn’t so much to beat each other but to be with each other”. This was seen from the observation analysis of the number of registered participants. The increase in participation from both genders showed a positive correlation that Batswana are gradually keeping up with the times in making fitness a key priority in their lives. Prize moneys were awarded to the winners and some of the proceedings were alluded to be donated to Charity.
