The Minister for State President, Hon Kabo Morwaeng cautioned public officers to be focused on their work and desist from actively engaging in politics whilst holding a public office.

When addresing the public service employees in Letlhakane this morning, Minister Morwaeng pleaded with public officers to refrain from active politics as it conflicts with their code of employment, the Public Service Charter, as civil servants. He said they should not identify themselves with any political party while discharging their duties.

The Minister shared information on the Government’s Reset Agenda priorities and encouraged public officers to embrace them and serve the public deligently and with respect adding that customer service is very important in improving peoples lives.

He further urged public officers to double their efforts in supporting businesses in Botswana to help grow the economy of Botswana. He said the Government is aware of public officer’s challenges such as accomodation, transport, overstaying and progression to name a few and emphasised that the Government is doing its best to address their issues.

Minister Morwaeng commended the Public Officers for their hardwork and their service during the COVID 19 pandemic.

Delivering the Welcome remaks, the District Commissioner Ms Angeliah Leano welcomed all to the meeting and highlighted that Boteti District is a vast District with so many villages and it being declared a fully fletched district will make it easier for the employees to service the public. She further pleaded with the Minister to make emphasis on the misconduct of public servants who violate the principles of the Public Service Charter.
