BOTSWANA ZAMBIA RELATIONS DATES FAR BACK

His Excellency President Dr. Mokgweetsi Masisi said the relations between Botswana and Zambia are nothing new and highlighted this during the working visit by the President of Zambia His Excellency Hakainde Hichilema in Kasane.

He reiterated that Zambia and Botswana have been the oldest friends since our independence in 1966, adding that we also share cultural and historical ties.

President Masisi furthermore stated that Former President of Zambia Dr Kenneth Kaunda played a role in Botswana being accepted as an African Unity member, a gesture he appreciated.

He said the working visit presented a unique opportunity to further strengthen the existing bilateral relations between the two countries and broaden the scope of cooperation in areas of mining, mineral development and the value chains, health, vaccine development tourism, agriculture, transport, infrastructure logistics, and defence and security.

The two countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding On Immigration Technical Cooperation.
