BPS WELCOMES NEW COMMISSIONER

The newly appointed Commissioner of Police, Ms Dinah Marathe has pleaded for support from all members of the Botswana Police Service (BPS) as she assumes the leadership role of the organisation.

Ms Marathe made this plea at a ceremony organised to welcome her this morning (11/03/2024) at Police Headquarters in Gaborone. She thanked His Excellency Dr. Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi for entrusting her with the responsibility of leading the BPS. She also promised to live up to the task of the Commissioner of Police.

Ms Marathe said she is bringing a diverse leadership and expected to meet officers who could be trusted and ready to embark on this journey together. She pleaded with police officers to be tolerant, kind and patient with her leadership.
She also encouraged police officers to work in partnership with the community in the fight against crime and live the Organisation’s Mandate.

In his welcome remarks, the Director General of Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and also the former Acting Commissioner of Police, Mr Phemelo Ramakorwane, congratulated the incoming Commissioner of Police. He expressed confidence and hoped that Ms Marathe would lead with integrity, professionalism and commitment to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the nation.

He encouraged police officers to foster an inclusive workplace that strives on opportunities by learning from one another despite rank or gender. Mr Ramakorwane acknowledged the tremendous support he received during his managerial position in Botswana Police Service.
