Lucara Botswana MD Pays Courtesy Call to Acting Commissioner

The Managing Director of Lucara Botswana Mrs Naseem Banu Lahri paid a courtesy call to the Acting Commissioner of Police, Mr Phemelo Ramakorwane today (31/01/2023) at Police Headquarters.
In his welcome remarks, Mr Ramakorwane acknowledged the immense contribution made by Lucara towards the development of this country and its global recognition mainly through diamond mining and supply chain, which remains the backbone of Botswana’s economy.

The Acting Commissioner said Botswana Police Service (BPS) recognises Lucara’s corporate social responsibility commitment through contribution and support towards various community development projects such as roads improvement and construction of a local stadium.

He noted that BPS is committed to the professional delivery of its statutory mandate of ensuring public safety and security in partnership with the community. Mr Ramakorwane indicated that BPS has established a dedicated Diamond and Minerals Protection Unit with the aim of strengthening escort services and detection of stolen and illicit trading in diamonds.

For her part, Mrs Lahri expressed gratitude for the support they get from BPS. She appreciated the partnership they have with BPS which she said will contribute to the national economy.

Mrs Lahri said Lucara is willing to assist BPS in any area of need.
