“Challenge accepted” – Khato Civils to UDC

Khato Civils and the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) will square it off at the courts of law. The company has confirmed in a Media Release that they will be suing the party for “defamation”.

“The Company, and its Chairman, wish to make it clear to the public that it was never its wish to find itself embroiled in legal battles with the UDC, or any political party, for that matter. The Company and its Chairman. prefer to be partners in national development, and to stay out of the political sphere. However the circumstances are such that inaction, on the part of the cormpany, or its Chaiman, would have the effect of legitimizing the defamatory utterances made, and same may be misconstrued to be true. The reputation of the Company, and that of its Chairman, are its stock in trade, and constitute the bedrock upon which its success, built over decades, was achieved. It is something its business partners, including financial institutions demand as a precondition for any form of association. As such same is guarded very Jealously, and resolutely. It has therefore become Imperative, for the Company. and its Chairman, to place the matter before court, in order that the allegations made by the UDC, may be definitively tried. It is hoped that the UDC will have a perfect platfom for adducing proof of the allegations it has made. The Company and its Chaiman would finally be in a position, to clear their names.” said Mongezi Myani, Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Khato Civils.

This comes after the Media Statement by the UDC yesterday (21 October 2021), in which the party dared Khato Civils to sue as per its threat. The UDC stood its ground, and maintained its remarks from an earlier Media Release.

According to its statement, the company had hoped that the UDC will take the blame, retract its statement, and apologize to Khato Civils and its chairman. To its disappointment, the company got an egg on the face as UDC asked the company to ‘bring it on’.

Khato Civils has noted that it will be commencing legal process against the UDC. The company will be trying to prove that it, and its chairman has been defamed, while the UDC will be trying prove that their accusations are true and that it has been poked in the eye first.
