Masisi hails Magosi

President Masisi has hailed Mr. Elias Mpedi Magosi for his victory over Dr. Faustin Luanga Mukela of DRC, to become the first SADC Executive Secretary from Botswana. Mr. Magosi was voted in today during the SADC summit.

To congratulate Magosi on this milestone, His Excellency the President took it to Facebook;

“I want to take this moment to thank the SADC community for acceding to our humble request thay they, for the first time in the history of SADC entrust us with the responsibility to lead the SADC Secretariat.

We take this enormous responsibility very serious and we are truly humbled.

I thank my Cabinet and officials for the support and hard work they put into this campaign. Special thanks go to Batswana whose resources carried this campaign. We appreciate the sacrifices made and the support they gave us.

One of the commitments i made is to push for Batswana to take strategic roles in all the international organisations we belong to. This comes with a lot of sacrifices and hard work but with their support we will achieve this goal.

During the campaigns we assured our peers that Elias Mpedi Magosi is the embodiment of everything that is Botswana: hard work, frugality, humility, honesty, respect, adherence to the rule of law among many and i implore him to go out there and show SADC what Batswana are capable of.

To Rre Magosi, you are now a servant of SADC. Go and serve all member states equally and diligently. Congratulations and good luck in your new journey.”

Magosi’s victory comes after several months of a firece campaign which was led by President Masisi. In campaign which President Masisi was greatly crucified for, that he was wasting resources, Masisi together with Magosi visited all SADC countries to present Magosi and ask for votes.

With the amount of resources which were put on the campaign, and with Magosi’s victory, the nation is yet to witness what Magosi’s victory will profit the country.
