National Business Conference An Opportunity To Share Ideas For Advancing Botswana

His Excellency the President, Dr Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi officially opened the 16th Biennial National Business Conference (NBC) in Francistown this morning.

In his opening remarks President Masisi urged participants to use the conference to come up with ideas and strategies that would help to advance the economy on a path of high economic growth to create jobs for Batswana.

“This is an important conference where

I expect you to use the opportunity to contribute to the review of existing policies and the regulatory environment, as well as propose new and transformative reforms to improve the welfare of Batswana”, said President Masisi

He added that the National Business Conference is a true reflection of government’s quest for inclusivity in an endeavour to promote private sector-led economic recovery and growth.

Speaking more on inclusivity, The President further highlighted that in April 2022 Government signed into law, the Economic Inclusion Bill that seeks, among others, to promote effective participation of citizens in the economic growth and development of the economy. He said the law will further facilitate enforcement of the citizen economic empowerment initiatives.

Business Botswana President Gobusamang Keebine explained that the objectives of the conference is to define how to move the country to a high-income economy. Keebine also emphasised the need for inclusivity to attain the objectives.

The Forum which is hosted by Business Botswana is held under the theme β€œRoad Map to high Income – Accelerating Transformation. Over 400 delegates from government and the private sector are attending the two day conference.
