PARLIAMENT ENDORSES MOTION

Members of Parliament have endorsed a motion to extend the State of Public Emergency for a period of 6 months as was presented by the Leader of the House Mr Slumber Tsogwane.

A 21 days State of Public Emergency was declared by President Dr. Mokgweetsi Masisi following confirmation of three coronavirus cases in Botswana.

At the time of his address President Masisi said he wanted the state of emergency to be more than the 21 days stipulated in the constitution, and would therefore call parliament to decide how much longer it would be in force.

Botswana has to date recorded 13 confirmed cases of covid-19 and a fatality.
