Honourable Mr. Machana R. Shamukuni, Minister of Justice, will instead attend the Inauguration Ceremony in Angola

GABORONE, 16th September 2022: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform thepublic that due to health reasons, His Honour Mr. Slumber Tsogwane, Acting President of the Republic of Botswana, will no longer be able to travel to Luanda, Angola to attend the Inauguration Ceremony of His Excellency Mr. João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, President-Elect of the Republic of Angola.

The Acting President sustained a minor injury arising from a fall this morning.In view of the foregoing, the public is informed that Honourable Mr. Machana R. Shamukuni, Minister of Justice, will instead attend the Inauguration Ceremony which will be held on 15th September 2022 in Luanda.

Honourable Shamukuni will be accompanied by Senior Government Officials and will return to Gaborone on 16th September 2022.
