STUDENT COUNSELLOR
Purpose;
The core purpose of this post is to provide psychological services to students, academic counselling and career development counselling to the New Era College community as directed in accordance with the mission of the College. A student counsellor often helps the students to deal with the pressures of life and is also responsible for monitoring the overall psychological growth of the students.
The candidate should be able to do the following;
A student counsellor is responsible for guiding the students regarding their career decisions and helping them understand their potential to pursue their goals.
Be an active member of Counselling team at New Era College
To be responsible for internal education at New Era College concerning counselling Trauma, crisis counselling and conflict resolution
Provide students with counselling therapy services
To teach and encourage student to use suitable therapy methods in reducing stressful life styles
Engaging the parents and the school authorities, for coming up with a solution of what to do, if a student faces problems in the college.
Holding various sessions with the students to identify problems so as to find intervention.
Working as a mediator between the student and the college authorities in case of problems.
Undertake any other tasks as may be required to meet the needs of the services
Must have experience with counselling student at tertiary level
Requirements;
Diploma in Social work, Psychology or Counselling
At least one (1) year minimum relevant work experience
No criminal record
Must be of sober habits
